Robyn Alvin is a photographer who works within the broad field of bypassed, organic, un-manipulated subjects. While a student at Montserrat College of Art she was taught about the importance of paying attention to the "whispers," which inspired her focus of drawing attention to the often overlooked compositions available in the common landscape. She believes that we are all blind to some things. This blindness propels her to digitally capture that which is often unseen.
"Medical experiments have shown that a great deal of vision is unconscious: we are blind to certain things and blind to our blindness. Those twin blindnesses are necessary for ordinary seeing: we need to be continuously partially blind in order to see. In the end, blindnesses are the constant companions of seeing and even the very condition of seeing itself." - James Elkins
